Ebay item 8/1/05 cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-1967-Jaguar-XKE-Series-I-Roadster_W0QQcmdZ ...
Current bid $30,000.00 (Reserve met), 7 bids, 5 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
1967 Jaguar XKE Series I Roadster
4.2 liter, 6-cylinder engine with 3 SU carbs
Beautiful black lacquer exterior with tan Connelly leather seating and vinyl top
57,369 miles on odometer
Motor # 7E137059
Body # 4E3054
Chassis # 1E11653
This is an example is the very desirable last version of the Series I Roadsters.
The 1967 Series I combined the original clean and uncluttered Series I body style (glass covered headlights, minimal bumpers and chrome) with the bigger and more reliable 4.2 liter 6-cylinder engine, synchromesh 4-speed transmission, and 3 SU carbs.
This combination is highly regarded for its combination of design and performance.
I purchased the car in Oct. 1988, from Harley E. Cluxton III, of Grand Touring Cars Inc. in Scottsdale, AZ., after an extensive search to find this specific model.
Although I was not able to determine its previous history, the car still has a 1982 Oklahoma inspection sticker on the windshield.
This vehicle is an excellent example of a driver’s car.
Although the numbers do not match, it has the proper engine and underwent extensive restoration prior to being purchased by Grand Touring (i.e., the Lucas generator & coil were replaced with GM equivalents, and an Ansa racing exhaust replaced the original system).
When I purchased the car, there were 48,903 miles on the odometer. Although I cannot testify to the accuracy of that number, based upon the current odometer reading of 57,369, I can verify that the resulting 8,466 miles over the past 17 years that I’ve owned it are correct.
During the past 17 years, this heated garage-kept and covered car has only been driven during the summer months, and has only been in the rain once.
The top has only been put up once in this time.
The car has just been recently serviced:
* The brake system was totally rebuilt, including new master cylinder & stainless steel calipers
* The clutch was also rebuilt, with new master & slave cylinder
* The SU carbs were rebuilt & balanced
* Electrical system was inspected and repaired where necessary
* All rubber hoses were inspected & replaced as necessary
* Cooling system was flushed and inspected
* New wiper blades
* Battery replaced
The car is driving as well as when I purchased it.
The engine is strong, runs smoothly, and does not smoke!
The suspension is good and the car handles very well.
The body and paint are still in very good condition, with very minimal dents and chips. The most substantial imperfection is a small area of heat bubbling near the hood louvers, on the driver’s side.
Cockpit is in very good shape, with little wear on the leather seating. Dashboard is clean and uncracked. All instrumentation is functional. All controls are operational.
Due to its lack of usage, the top is in like-new condition. The rear window is clear and in excellent condition.
It also has a black Tonneau cover and boot cover, both of which are in like-new condition and fit perfectly.
Although the top fits perfectly, it does need some minimal adjustment, at the left leading edge interface with the windshield. It does not seal tightly.
It has the proper and much sought-after Michelin redline tires in very excellent condition.
The four wire wheels are in excellent condition.
The spare shows damage to wheel and tire (see photo).
A complete repair manual and car cover will be included.
This car has been my passion and joy for the past 17 years. Downsizing & relocation requires its very regrettable sale.
In sum, it is a wonderful car to look at and drive.
