Car to be at auction 10/14
    www.classic-auctions.com/Auctions/08-10-2014-ImperialWarMuseumDuxford-1369/1967J ...

    Auction description:
    Sale Date: 8th October 2014
    Lot Number: 66
    1967 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Roadster
    Estimate: (£) 55,000 - 65,000
    Reg Number: 50 FUH
    Chassis Number: 1E1752
    Engine Number: 7E125889
    Cc: 4235
    Body Colour: O.E.W.
    Trim Colour: Red
    MOT ExpiryDate: April 2015

First registered on 24th May 1967, this remarkably original roadster has enjoyed just 4 owners - the second acquiring it on Christmas eve 1976 (£1695 invoice on file) when the indicated mileage was 90,600, before it passed to his son on 30th April 1991 with a recorded mileage of 118,945. The vendor purchased the car on 1st June 1995 at 121,669 miles and at the time of cataloguing the odometer now registers 135,114 miles. Work undertaken in the current ownership includes a new exhaust manifold (2006), a new clutch (2006 at 133,453 miles), brake overhaul (2013) together with expenditure of £2422 on chassis work in 2013 for which a detailed breakdown is on file. A number of other invoices are included in the car's accompanying history file totalling some £12,500 including those from GTC Engineering and Martin Robey together with a 1978 bill for an engine and gearbox overhaul.

Finished in Old English White with red leather, the vendor describes the car as being 'original without fancy modifications' (the sensible addition of a Kenlowe fan excluded) with 'average' bodywork, 'good' engine, gearbox and electrics and 'average' paint. Offered with Swansea V5 document, MoT to 31st March 2015, history file containing aforementioned invoices and correspondence, assorted expired MoTs, photostat copy old-style logbook and a copy of 'The Complete Official Jaguar E' comprising handbook and workshop manual (US edition 1970). With values of E-Types continuing to rise this represents the ideal opportunity to acquire an unmolested example with a rich patina that will respond to improvement.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
