trade Sale Berlin, Germany
This Jaguar E-Type Series 1 (known unofficially as a 'Series 1.5') 4.2 Roadster is an iconic and timelessly elegant classic British open-top sports car.
Under the bonnet sits the matching-numbers naturally aspirated 4.2-litre straight-six fed by twin carburettors, delivering around 265bhp to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.
Built on 7 February 1968 and first registered in the UK in March 1968, this right-hand drive E-Type was exported in January 2012, and is now located in Berlin, Germany, where it has been kept unregistered as part of a collection.
The odometer shows 40,244 miles, however this is not warranted.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
Officially a Series 1 model, this 1968 E-Type is also known as a ‘Series 1.5’. These interim models featured an open headlamp design with the original body style, the original small taillights, and rocker switches in place of toggles.
This E-Type Roadster is finished in black, with a black convertible roof, over a red leather-trimmed interior – which the seller notes is the original factory colour scheme.
It rides on a set of 15-inch cross-spoke wire wheels with two-eared knock-offs, wrapped in Dunlop SP Sport tyres.
Equipment includes a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a locking glove compartment, Smiths gauges, dashboard rocker switches, a passenger-side dashboard grab handle, and a Europa stereo.
The car will be supplied with its UK registration documents, previous MOT certificates and tax discs, its Jaguar Production Record Trace Certificate, and a spare wheel.
CONDITION
Specific notes from the seller include: the vehicle was re-painted in its original colour 30 years ago.
SERVICE HISTORY
This E-Type’s most recent service was completed in June 2025 at an indicated 40,242 miles, when FL motors replaced the fluids and filters, and cleaned the carburettor and fuel system.
