This original, UK-supplied, right-hand drive, matching numbers, Series I E-Type Coupé was registered to its first owner on 18th of May 1965 and remained with him for a remarkable 53 years, changing hands in December 2018. The Jaguar's next owner enjoyed it for the following two years, when it was purchased by our vendor.
Around five yeas ago, the venerable Jaguar was in need of a bit of a refresh and some £20,000 was invested including the removal, strip down and rebuilding of the rear cradle, stripping back the old underseal and returning the underside back to a factory finish, a complete rebuild of the front and rear suspension which included Koni shock absorbers, a refurbished steering rack and finally a complete brake overhaul including new discs. It was treated to a new set of wheels and tyres and a major service including a carburettor rebuild. The car has had little use since then but according to our vendor, still feels tight and positive, offering a classic E-Type driving experience.
More recent expenditure includes a high torque starter motor (original included), re-trimmed centre console, new Pilkington windscreen, new battery and battery cut-off switch, four 72-spoke competition wire wheels with Pirelli Cinturato CN12 tyres and servicing and maintenance by William Heynes during the last five years.
The car is supplied with a good history file including its original 'green' logbook from 1975 showing one previous keeper, keeping everything in line with the current V5C and its Heritage Certificate. The original registration number, 3384 MV, will remain on the car.
Not a concours contender, although it wouldn't take much, but that was never the idea, this is a true drivers' car focussed on handling, going and stopping and experiencing the feel that only a well set-up Series I can provide.
