For sale at Auction March 2013
Estimate £18,000 - £22,000
First registered in October 1970, this particular E-Type has spent its whole life in the Black Country in the hands of just two owners. The current vendor acquired the car from its first owner in 1981 and has always kept it garaged and used it sparingly in fine weather only (although, for personal reasons, the car was briefly transferred into a friend's name between 1982 and 1985).
The 42,200 miles on the clock is warranted genuine and is backed up by a virtually unbroken run of old MOTs back to 1985 (at 35,866 miles) plus a fully stamped up original service book with 13 service stamps from new until November 2011 (at 41,999 miles). The vendor states that the car is totally unrestored and original and has needed no other attention apart from routine servicing.
In 2001 the rear brakes were overhauled by CMC of Bridgnorth including new discs and rebuilt calipers with a bill on file for £1,200. The front brakes have also been overhauled by the owner (a retired commercial vehicle engineer) and a stainless steel exhaust system fitted. The car remains in very good condition throughout although the original red paintwork is somewhat micro-blistered here and there. The black leather interior is also totally original and nicely mellowed.
The car is said to drive beautifully and certainly fired up instantly and ran very sweetly as we manoeuvred it to take these pictures. It comes with the aforementioned service history, all its original handbooks in the original wallet, and a Haynes workshop manual. MOT'd until September 2013 and taxed until August, this extraordinarily original car and low mileage E-Type is ready for a proud third owner to drive away today.
