Car was at auction 4/11
www.barons-auctions.com/details.php
Auction description:
Lot 127: Jaguar E-type S2
Jaguar Heritage + Classic & Collectors Motor Car, Barons (19 April 2011)
This E-type fixed head was first owned by the famous 1960s model Karen Young who appeared on the Aston Martin stand at the 1967 Earls Court motor show and who later, with this very E-type, featured in the June 1970 issue of Motor magazine, a copy of which is supplied with the car.
Ms Young laid the car up in the 1980s, finally selling it in 2004 at which point it had covered just circa 25,000 miles from new.
In its second ownership, the car was restored between 2004 and 2006 at a cost of almost 50,000. This included a bare-metal repaint and full mechanical rebuild. Only the leather interior was left alone, in order to preserve the marvellous patina. An album of photographs and a large pile of invoices detail the restoration.
Having now covered just 33,000 miles the car is reported by the vendor to still look fabulous with magnificent paintwork and a really clean underside that looks newly-restored. It is also reported to drive beautifully too and benefits from subtle upgrades like electronic ignition and a heated front screen. A modern CD player is fitted but the original Motorola radio is supplied with the car.
A manual, right hand drive example, the car is MOT tested to January 2012 and taxed (exempt) to November 2011.

A recent arrival on our shores this beautiful Series 2 Coup?? has an amazing history behind it. Presented to one of Britain's original supermodels, Karen Young, as a gift from her fianc?? Michael Collins. It was subsequently registered in her name in 1977 when it was sparring used until 1982. Covering only 25,000 miles until then it was decided the old cat could do with a freshen up. Karen sent the car to KSW Engineering, who carried out a full restoration. A bare metal re spray, engine overhaul and full interior refurbishment brought the car back to its former glory. The car was then placed in a professional storage facility.
A full history of the restoration and parts used is available including photos of the work being carried out.
