Lot 8
1969 Jaguar XKE Series II Coupe
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
From The Ron Walter Estate
CHASSIS NO: 1R26449
• A solid, original example
• Ideal preservation vehicle or excellent candidate for a complete restoration
• Awaiting delivery of its Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate
4,234cc inline six-cylinder engine, 246 HP, four-speed manual gearbox, independent front suspension with transverse wishbones, torsion bars, independent rear suspension with lower transverse links and twin coil springs, four-wheel disc brakes; wheelbase: 96”
This attractive Coupe comes from the Ron Walter Estate. Ron was a long-time restorer and enthusiast from northeast Indiana that was always on the hunt for desirable automobiles and memorabilia. He was quite pleased with his Jaguar find and had contemplated whether to recommission as a driver or completely restore his beloved XKE. Finished in Regency Red from the factory it features pop-out rear quarter windows, chrome bumpers with overriders, hood vents, and a driver’s side mirror. The body itself is a solid example, while the paint shows flaking and chips. The nicely appointed factory 15-inch wire wheels are in good standing, while the tires themselves will need to be replaced to meet road standards.
The cabin features nicely preserved bucket seats that are trimmed in black leather upholstery along with matching door panels and carpeting. Interior features include an AI Rhapsody cassette stereo, heater, locking glove box and polished handbrake lever. The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts the Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a 6,000-rpm tachometer. An analog clock and gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, and fuel level are center-mounted. Mechanically, this E-Type comes with all its correct parts; however, has not been tended to or started in some years, and should be serviced as needed to be roadworthy. Under the hood is Jaguar’s 4.2-litre inline six-cylinder engine, which many favored over the 3.8-litre Series I and 12-cylinder Series III engines.
At the time of cataloging, this Jaguar’s Heritage Trust Certificate has been purchased and applied for but not yet delivered. It will, of course, be presented to the winning bidder. This ’69 Jaguar XKE Series II Coupe is a very solid example presenting itself to its next owner as a great start for a restoration or a preservation car to be used and enjoyed. In true enthusiast fashion, the choice is yours.

Car now on Ebay:
Still available at above auction.
Opening bid $33,000 no reserve 0 bids buy it now price $42,000, seller hartfordland, 6 days left in auction, 100k miles, now in Fort Wayne, Indiana, previously Auburn, Indiana.
Seller's description:
Outstanding barn find. Totally original 1969 Jaguar XKE 2-Passenger coupe (NOT a 2+2). This is a numbers matching car that was in the same owners hands for decades. I have many more pictures of the car and am happy to email them to any interested party. It is a factory air conditioned car with its original engine and 4-speed manual transmission. I am unable to ascertain if the heads are original. The air conditioning components are all there.
This car came out of Indiana (still stored there) and is largely original. Per the Heritage Trust Certificate, the car was born Silver with black interior and is currently red with black interior. The interior is totally original and the paint appears like the car was brought to bare metal prior to painting.
The engine turns and no attempt was made to start the car. It will need a full rehabilitation prior to being used again.
The paint has large flakes throughout the car and appears to have nothing under it indicating the full bare metal repaint.
There is no rust visible on the car including frame and floors. The rockers are solid and straight. The door gaps and panel fit are all perfect to original specifications. The chrome and trim is original with pitting as would be expected.
The interior is a really nice original with no holes or rips in the seats, The roof liner is excellent and all of the controls are original and function as they should (nothing has been tested, speaking strictly about if they move or not). The interior is absolutely a preservation candidate. The doors open and shut well with excellent alignment and fit.
The undercarriage is solid with no accident repair anywhere.
We turned the engine and it does move. We have not done anything else to the car and it will need a full rehab to be functional. It does not start or run at this time. inspections are welcome and I have many additional pictures available. The new buyer should plan on a major engine service, brake service, fuel, gas tank, possible suspension, clutch, etc to make the car reliably drivable.
We removed the original data tag only for the purpose of cleaning it and then reattached it. We also carefully cleaned the area where the engine stamping is to photograph it. It was clear this engine has never been out of the car.
The car has its original spare with jack.
About the previous owner: It came from the Ron Walter Estate.
