Selelr's description:
The XKE, or E-Type as it was officially called has always been one of the most desirable sports cars to come out of Great Britain. Introduced in 1961 with a twin cam 6 cylinder, 265 BHP, and 4 wheel disc brakes, it was way ahead of it's time.
The low and sleek design has aged well and it's svelte lines still look wonderful today. This example is a 1969 4.2 Series 2 Roadster in it's original Willow Green with Black interior.
This is a very strong running (not driving) E-Type that will need a full restoration.
The engine runs very well. It sounds strong, has good oil pressure, doesn't smoke and holds temperature. Some of the accelerator linkage is very stiff. The car was stored for a long time and the brake hydraulics have failed so it WILL NOT DRIVE.
The engine is the original matching numbers unit. This is the factory stamped original data plate. And here is the engine number stamped on the block.
Further "numbers integrity" is shown here by the original stamped picture frame and the window post vin tag.
The body on this E-type Roadster is very straight with no collision damage whatsoever. It does, however have rust. Here, the nice door gaps and bonnet lines can be seen.
There is a dent just forward of the driver's door. The fit as as nice as the passenger door.
he center of the rear edge of the bonnet lays proud of the cowl, apparently from an unknowledgeable hack attempting to open it without unlatching it...The rest of the bonnet fit is excellent.
The exhaust is a performance Ansa type and sounds very nice.
This photo is a good example of the very poor paint. All of the chrome is very shiny with no pitting or rust.
The trunk has all the original wood flooring. The spare tire is almost new. The wheel is excellent.
This is 100% original paint on the trunk floor. There has never been any rust through or repair here. Here is a view down the right side......and down the left side.
There is no windshield glass and it's trim is hung in place for the purpose of these photos. All of the windshield trim is present.
The upholstery needs to be completely done. The wood has fallen off of the steering wheel. The seat frames are intact and in good shape.
Here is the driver's floor with the seat removed. It is original and the under seat area is solid with some rust through in the foot well.
The passenger floor is a little more solid, but still has a bit of rust in the foot well.
The following photos will show the underside of the car where most of the work will need to be done.
This is a view of the left front underside, showing some rust through the driver's floor.
The same side underneath from the rear....still some original factory undercoating. The rockers have been repaired poorly.
This is the right front underside.
This is the right rear underside.
There is some rust in the 1/4 panels. The bottom of the doors is very nice.
Here is the same view under the driver's door.
Here is the underside of the trunk which is nice and solid.
The car is mostly complete with the following items known to be missing: windshield glass, outer chrome trim around left headlight bucket, inner chrome trim around right headlight bucket, radio, 2 wiper arms, and the driver's inside door handle.
Here are some miscellaneous parts not attached to the car.
The original top boot is excellent with all fittings and snaps intact. The top frame is complete with all three latches.
Here are some final shots of this gorgeous design:
Showing 41,228 miles. It is unknown if that's original, but very well could be based on the strength of the engine, originality of many components and the long storage period.
The wheels are in excellent shape with very nice chrome.
Another example of how nice the chrome is on the entire car.
Here is a rare chance at an entry level Jaguar XKE Roadster with a reserve set at a very reasonable price. The engine is very strong, the body is straight and needs rust repair that is obvious instead of being covered up. This is your opportunity to restore an E-Type your way-the way it deserves to be done!
