For sale at Graeme Hunt Fine and Historic Cars of London for £395,000. Seller's description below.
www.graemehunt.com/inventory/741/1973-jaguar-e-type-coombes-tribute
Coombes tribute, blow your socks off fast! Through Jaguar's storied history, few tales are as exhilarating as that of the competition E Types, the first of these, chassis S860006, delivered to the Coombes Racing Team. This car became the basis of a further 17 competition cars. Showing its importance, that is what our car is a tribute to. The registration number is even appropriate, chassis S850006 is 4WPD and ours is 9WPD.
The car's underpinnings are a UK supplied 1973 Series III. Now of course something completely different. Now with an aluminium bonnet, fitted with extended louvres for enhanced cooling, under the bonnet a monster 6.1 litre V12 4 cam engine, aero features, updated interior for comfort; the immense power from the 6.1 litre engine mated to a 5 speed Getrag gearbox, allowing its considerable power to be delivered with grace and efficiency.
Driving this car, you can feel its power unlike with most road cars. The precision of its gearbox, the responsiveness of the engine, and aerodynamic enhancements all work in concert to create a drive that is thrilling, smooth and controlled. The exhausts or trumpets omit a growl so magnificent, you hear it before you see it. A sound as you would want it to be, heavenly.

Auction description:
The Iconic Sale at Silverstone Festival 2025
Lot Number 467
JAGUAR E-TYPE COOMBS
Registration Number 9 WPD
Chassis Number 1S1783BW
Transmission Manual
An 'homage' to the original Coombs Racing Team Competition E-Type based on a Series 3 fitted with a 6.1-litre, 'quad-cam' V12 with a 5-speed Getrag gearbox.
The registration number is even appropriate, #S850006 wearing 4 WPD and this car is 9 WPD. Using a UK-supplied right-hand drive 1973 Series 3 as a basis to work from, the specification is impressive with a 6.1-litre, quad-cam V12 engine mated to a 5-speed Getrag gearbox. The sellers informs us that 'you can feel its power unlike most other road cars. The precision of its gearbox, the responsiveness of its engine and the aerodynamic enhancements all work in concert to create a drive that's as thrilling as it is smooth and controllable. You really feel like you are in the Stirling Moss trophy at Goodwood.'
Further information as to the specification of the car include updated interior for comfort, aluminium bonnet adorned with extended louvres for enhanced cooling, aero features and cooling features.
Some of the best names in the business have had an input in this unique Jaguar including Building the Legend who are known for their 'quad-cam' engines and XJ 13 reps, Jaguar Racing Panels who were responsible for the bodywork and G B Trimming who created the cars distinctive interior.
Attractively estimated today at a level that is about half of what it would cost to replicate.
