Currently collecting parts to restore. Some work commenced by previous owner. Has not moved under it's own power for many years. Hope to start restoration in about a year, after completion of my current Triumph GT6 project.

Finally started restoration last month. Engine was scrap due to massive corrosion in waterways, take care if you lay your engine or car up for prolonged periods! Replaced with XJS engine, but as many of the original components saved as possible, including crankshaft. Car will be converted to manual using a Getrag 'box. Most of the rear end of the car is complete, now I am fitting it to a stand to allow access to the underside. next report to follow.

Restoration continuing, now all welding ic complete apart from maybe a few areas to tidy up. Started work on the bonnet and now have to decide on a colour. Just about ready to preare for paint. Getrag 5 speed box to be fitted, most mechanical items now restored and awaitng fitment.

Restoration has now reached the stage of fitting the bonnet as can be seen from the photo posted on 27 Nov 07. This is the first time the bonnet has been fitted in many years, possbly more than ten, so it is a major milestone for me and the car. The car is now off the rotisserie, which has now been converted to a mobile stand to which the car is bolted. Paint has been applied to the underside, which is now structurally complete and I am in the proces of completeing the bonnet fit, paint preparation and interior painting . Still a long way to go, but at least people can now recognise the car as they walk past!
The rear supension is complete and the front suspension as complete as it can be without actually fitting it to the car, as are all the brake assemblies. Paint prep has taken longer than expected and is basically on hold until the weather improves - probably some months to wait in misty, damp and foggy Hertforshire as I write!

I have painted the car in a modern Jaguar colour, which is Madeira. Hope to have some mechanical parts fitted soon!

Big changes since the last post; the car has done several thousand miles! However, it still isn't a runner, the car moved inside a container when my wife and I emigrated to Melbourne, Australia. In the mean time, the car is progressing fairly well, not withstanding the fact that I didn't see it for over 4 months! Engine and gearbox are in, I just have to figure out how to move the gearchange into the correct spot. All suspension is fitted and most of the brake system, just a few vaccum pipes to fit. Wiring loom is now going in and the windows and doors were fitted to make it nominally weatherproof for the journey. The sunroof is fitted and so are the front seats, albeit temporarily. The most momentous thing for me is that I was actually able to control the car from the driver's seat for the first time ever, although this was only to steer it into the truck and on/off the trailer in Australia as part of shipping across! Now all I have to do is find like minded Australians and find a reliable source of Jaguar spares in Australia.

Now been in Australia for a year and the car has progressed steadily. I was hoping to get it running this Christmas, but decided not to apply the pressure of adate and will now try early in the New Year. Still a few problems to overcome, but now there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Well, the car started as very original - so original it had all its' own rust! Anyway, after an eight year home restoration, including a move around the World from UK to Australia, I finally made an application this week for registration. The car has had to face various inspections, which it has passed and will soon be back on the road where it belongs.

The car was orignally sold to the John Coombs dealership and must have been used as a demonstrator, hence the famous BUY 1 registration. It had another private plate - 8LRB, until 1983, I have an old tax disc proving this number was allocated by 1973, but unclear whether that was the original plate. Now registered in Australia as I brought it with me when I emigrated.
