Car at auction 10/22

www.silverstoneauctions.com/sa081-lot-19344-1973-jaguar-e-type-series-3-2-2-fhc

Auction description:

And still we find them. A UK-supplied Series 3 from long-term ownership, many years of it, resting in a corner. Serious potential "A true barn find, just awaiting its awakening".

When searching for the ideal restoration project, most of our clients start with a wish list that would usually include certain models. They may hope that the object of their affection has only had a few owners, or comes from period of long-term ownership, all factors in minimalising the risk. Consequently, a UK-supplied, right-hand drive Series 3 V12 E-Type FHC in Signal Red with Black Leather, from very long-term ownership and in genuine barn-find condition would appear to be a dream come true. When that ownership extends to almost 50 years, and the owner is likely only the second keeper ever, this becomes a very rare opportunity.

The Jaguar was first registered in 1973, acquired by our vendors in 1975, and subsequently enjoyed for a number of years before being parked up in a garage some years ago when it required some repairs. There it has remained, awaiting the long-promised repair work to be carried out, until our vendor has finally accepted that he will never 'get around to it' and that it's almost criminal to keep the 'old girl' in the corner of the barn any longer.

It's been rolled out of its hiding place, but our vendors have sensibly not tried to start the car for fear of inflicting damage. Consequently, it comes to our sale as a rolling project, with all of the opportunities for a new owner to add value to this matching-numbers, low-ownership Series 3. The interior appears to be in ok condition, however, the paintwork has flattened as would be expected and there will almost certainly be structural work to be carried out, let alone mechanicals and electrics to attend to but, being an E-Type, there will be no shortage of options available.

Offered at No Reserve, this is an opportunity to acquire a desirable right-hand drive, V12 Series 3 in, what we believe, to be almost complete condition at a sensible price as decided by the market today. A true barn find, just awaiting its awakening.
