Sellers description:
Two owner
66,547 miles
documentation from the original owner dating back to around 1977
Fully updated, refreshed and ready for daily use or as a show car
This car was first purchased in Chicago, IL. It was purchased in 1988 by my mother from the first owner after I left for college. She is the current and second owner. She used the jag for several years as a fun second car, before moving back to England. But did not put many miles on her. When she moved back to England in 2005, she left the jaguar with me to restore. The car underwent extensive renovations and repairs over the course of the next several years of which I have extensive documentation. After returning from England in 2008, my mother began driving the car on weekends. However, with the passing of my step-father in 2009, she drove the car less and less. It had been a birthday present from him to her and it no longer held the joy for her as it once had. She is also in her 70s now and the car has become too much for her. The car is in excellent physical and visual condition. It has been stored indoors for its entire life. At this point in time, the car is a wonderful example that is ready for daily use, there are some remaining items that could be finished with the front seats being chief among them, however, I was advised to allow the new owner to undertake this task as the interior currently remains in its original condition which some owners may appreciate or have a certain way they would like to resort the seats. I drive the car every Saturday or Sunday for 5-10 miles just to keep her running and to have a little fun. I would keep her, but I really wanted a different classic so I told my mother I would help her sell. The vehicle will only go up in value as she is truly a classic and a great example.
Here is a highlight of some of the major restoration work done
The car has been repainted once (original color) in 2007. The paint is aging very well with no notable problems ... I would call it an 9 on a 10 point scale.
As previously stated, the blue interior leather condition is fair. I do have an original bolt of the leather material which is probably enough to restore the seats but I am not sure. This will be included in the sale.
The car is truly rust-free, extensive body and engine work was done during the restoration to ensure it would be sound for years to come.
Wire wheels that were on the car when it was purchased. The tires are virtually brand new with less than a couple thousand miles on them and no dry rot.
The exhaust system is brand new.
The air conditioning system works but will likely need to be recharged and may want to be converted to R134A.
Full binder of documentation dating to the 1970s with larger repair manual, carburetor manual and owners manuals.
List of extensive renovations provided upon request. The list of preventative maintenance and repairs goes back to the 70s
Overall: The car is visually beautiful. I constantly get stares and compliments when I go on my Sunday drives. It drives extremely well and could probably be used as a fun casual driver if you wanted or could be tweaked a little and made into a great show car. It presents extremely well but is not a top-level concours car .... Don't miss this chance to buy a 2 owner Jaguar from a little old English lady who really took great care of this car. No Really! She has the accent and everything you can talk to her about the car if you want.
Other Details:
Included are several boxes of serviceable parts that were replaced during the services above.
I have clear WV title to the car
The car is garaged at my home in Knoxville TN (my mother still lives in WV)
