    Ebay item 8/11/18
    www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-E-Type-XKE-3-8-LITER-ROADSTER-CHROME-WIRES/372398289451
Car has a buy it now price of $105,000 for 20 days, seller kurttannermotorcars, 23k miles.

    Seller's description:
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this wonderful older restored 3.8 Liter E-type. This car was just purchased from it's seller in the state of New Mexico. It received a restoration about 30 years ago and is still holding up nicely to a very good driver's condition car. The car would be just perfect to thoroughly enjoy and preserve in it's current condition, with the improvements of possibly a new top and a few other easy knick-knacks.
The body on this car appears quite honest with really no issues, with fairly good gaps and nice fitting panels. There is a small graze on the RH front fender, a dent at the LH rear overrider, and a small ding in front of the driver's door. Paintwork presents well with good color and lots gloss. There are some miscellaneous small dings, chips, light scrapes associated with an older restoration. Overall from 10 feet, the car looks great.
The car's interior was also renewed at the time of the restoration and looks quite nice in a light biscuit/parchment. There's really nothing needed on the inside here, as the car has been trimmed with nice leather, wool carpets, correct hardura, and is a delight with it's correct 3-piece aluminum/alloy panel set.
The engine compartment is correctly color coded to the rest of the car and appears nice and clean. The car still retains it's correct matching number cylinder head, but it's original block (#R4497-9) has been replaced at some point with earlier block # R2225-9. The car appears to still have it's original aluminum radiator.
The car's engine starts very easily on the key with little choke, revs well with no smoke, idles beautifully, and pulls the car smoothly down the road with great power. The gearbox feels fine when shifted deliberately, like a Moss 'box should. Brakes, clutch, steering, suspension, nice Dunlop tires, all feel very good and up to the mark. Oil pressure is good and the car runs fairly cool. It's a very sweet driving car overall, with a safe and secure feel about it.
This attractive, early 3.8 Liter Roadster is in a very approachable and usable condition, having been restored some time in the past. It presents nicely as a car to simply enjoy around town, and should be preserved and maintained as is going forward. A sensible and smart buy.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
