RARE XKE ROADSTER FROM SOUTH CAROLINA. THIS CAR HAS A NICE BODY AND FLOORS. THE ORIGINAL DRIVETRAIN WAS TAKEN OUT A FEW YEARS AGO. THE ENGINE APPEARS TO BE A FORD 289 OR 302 AND HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THEY MOST HAVE CHANGED THE DRIVETRAIN LONG TIME AGO WAY BEFORE THESE CARS IN ORIGINAL RESTORED CONDITION BRINGING BETWEEN $60k to 100K. YOU COULD PURCHASE THIS E-TYPE AT A VERY REASONABLE PRICE, FIND A 3.8 ENGINE and a 4 SPEED TRANSMISSION THAT ARE NOT VERY HARD TO FIND AND RESTORE IT TO ITS ORIGINAL CONDITION OR DRESS UP THE EXISTING POWERTRAIN AND DO A COSMETIC RESTORATION TO OWN A DEPENDABLE SPORTS CAR. THIS CAR NEEDS FULL RESTORATION. WE DO NOT HAVE "ANY" INFORMATION ABOUT THE PREVIOUS HISTORY OR WHAT EXACT ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION IS IN THE CAR. THIS CAR RUNS AND DRIVES NICE. THE DESCRIPTION IS AS FOLLOWS:
EXTERIOR:
THE BODY PANELS LINE UP PRETTY GOOD. THE BONNETT IS IN GOOD SHAPE EXCEPT A SMALL DAMAGE TO THE NOSE OPENING. THE ROCKER PANEL ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE HAS A SMALL TEAR. THE BONNETT, TRUNK LID, AND THE DOORS OPEN AND CLOSE PROPERLY. THE FLOORS LOOK GOOD FOR MOST PARTS BUT THEY HAVE A FEW PIN HOLES IN THEM. THE TRUNK FLOOR IS IN GOOD SHAPE MINUS A FEW SMALL HOLES AT THE COMMON PROBLEM AREAS. THE FRAMERAILS HAVE NOT BEEN CUT FOR THE ENGINE MODIFICATION. THE TOP FRAME IS IN GOOD CONTION AND CAN RAISED OR LOWERED WITH EASE. ALL CHROMES NEEDS TO BE PLATED. THE CAR NUMBER IS STAMPED ON THE RADIATOR CROSS MEMBER THAT MATCHES WITH THE VIN PLATE AND THE
INTERIOR:
THE ORIGINAL DASH AND SWITCHES ARE THERE. THE ORIGINAL SEATS HAVE BEEN COVERED WITH AN UGLY VINYL MATERIAL. THE CARPET IS NOT ORIGINAL.
MECHANICALS:
THE FORD ENGINE RUNS VERY GOOD. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTS GOOD BUT HAS A LEAK. THE TRANSMISSION SEALS NEED TO BE REPLACED BEFORE ANY LONG DISTANCE TRAVEL. THE BRAKES ARE GOOD.
ELECTRICALS:
THE FUEL, TEMP., AND OIL PRESSURE GAUGES WORK PROPERLY. THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACH APPEAR TO BE NOT HOOKED UP. THE LIGHTS AND SWITCHES WORK PROPERLY.
