Car to be at auction 2/20
www.artcurial.com/en/lot-1962-jaguar-type-e-38l-serie-1-coupe-3980-51
Auction description:
Lot 51
1962 Jaguar Type E 3,8L Série 1 coupé
Dutch title
Chassis No 886013
- Exceptionally well-preserved
- 135,000 km since new
- With all its original documents
This car was purchased in June 1962 by its first owner Mr. W at the Jaguar NV Lagerwij dealership in Holland and was delivered in its current colour combination, sky blue with beige leather interior. Its original service logbook displays the first stamped servicing coupons. Also in the file, all oil change coupons dating from 1969 to 1976 are included and precisely annotated with the mileage and relevant date. It comes with its original plastic pouch containing the original manual, the brochure from the network of Jaguar garages; and the car's general file is considered today as a treasure for any collector, as these documents are extremely rare when it comes to an automobile of 62. The car will change hands once before getting into the possession of our current owner, who will continue to maintain this E-Type meticulously and on a regular basis. Hence why it is today an exceptional opportunity to come across such an authentic "Jaguar Preservation" in such rare original condition, whether it is for the interior as well as its bodywork and paint, original for the most of it. The mechanical part is running well but a recent road test indicated a slightly weak clutch. It is also worth mentioning that the car was featured as part of an article in the Dutch magazine Auto Visie in 1982. It goes without saying that this model is iconic and represents one of the best designed cars in the history of the automobile. As soon as it was launched, Enzo Ferrari himself named it as the most beautiful automobile in the world. This well-preserved example will be able to attract collectors sensitive to its impeccable original condition.
Estimation 130 000 - 160 000 €
