Auction description:

Make & Model Jaguar E Type S1 4.2 Coupe
Registration FYC 606C
Year 1965
Colour Dark Blue
Engine Size 4,235 cc
Chassis No. IE20963
Engine No. 7E6119-9
V5c, old style logbook; MOT June 2018; lots of history
As the Heritage Certificate confirms, FYC 606C is one of those original 4.2 litre RHD Coupes and was built on 8th October 1965 and was sold by Henlys, London on 28th October. The first owner was Sir Jeremy John Fortescue Boles of Taunton, Somerset (fabulous name!). Sporting the registration WYD 1 he used the car extensively, driving to and from London to his country residence. The original buff logbook is still on file, and shows his name, and the names of the subsequent owners. The car was restored in 1985, with photographs of the restoration, and been in continuous use since then, with 20 old MOTs to show the mileage. Still in its original Dark Blue colour with red interior the car sports a period Webasto Sunroof.
It's now on its fifth owner who has enjoyed the car for 17 years, with regular Continental trips including laps of the Nurburgring. The odometer reads 38,000, but that should be preceded by a 1! He has kept meticulous records of work carried out during his ownership, There is a comprehensive notebook that lists all maintenance work done with reference numbers correlating to the relevant bill on file. He has improved the brakes with a Coopercraft upgrade, changed to an electronic fuel pump and the car has been thoroughly waxoyled.
Overall, the car is in good useable condition with an MOT that runs to May 2018 and it ran strongly on the day of our photoshoot. It is one of those cars that urges you just to get out and drive it, which one might be more hesitant to do with a freshly restored car. The vendor has no hesitation in driving the car to the sale.
This is a fine, original 'matching numbers' UK-supplied Series One E-Type with a remarkably comprehensive history from new and it ticks all the right boxes. Drive the wheels off it as it is, or restore it - you choose, but one thing is certain:
It will doubtless prove more rewarding than money in the bank!
