Online Auction selling June 20/2017

Additional sellers description:
This 1967 Jaguar XKE Coupe is a Series I example which was owned by the seller's father from new until his passing in 2000, when the title was transfered to the seller's mother. An overhaul was initiated in 1994 that included a suspension rebuild, and the fitment of new gaskets, hoses, and other miscellaneous parts. Work was not completed until the seller had the car finished around 2013 by Sports Car Craftsmen in Avarda, Colorado, and they state that it now runs well. This XKE is offered with a clean Colorado title in the seller's mother's name.

The red paintwork is heavily faded and cracked. The brightwork appears to be complete, and includes front and rear overriders and guards. The seller had the wire wheels serviced, and fitted new tubes and tires during the 2013/2014 services. Rust is present on the rear fender edges.

The cabin is the correct early style, with toggle switches rather than the rounded plastic rockers used in later XKEs. The dash, door panels, and center console appear to be in generally good condition, apart from a large crack down the centerline of the dash. The seats show heavy wear, and the driver's seat has a poorly fitted lower cover. No carpets are fitted, and the recessed floors are visible. The 73k miles indicated are not believed to be accurate.

Per the seller, this XKE is an early enough production example to have received triple-SU carburetors from the factory, rather than the dual Strombergs which began appearing midway through 1968 production. Around 2012/2013 the seller brought the car to Sports Car Craftsmen LLC, in Arvada, Colorado to have the car put back together following their father's never-completed overhaul. Recent services include new clutch pressure plate, release bearing, front and rear brake calipers, header tank, tires, and tubes.

The seller's father was a sheet metal worker by trade, and dressed up the engine bay with custom stainless steel brackets and other aesthetic pieces in place of the factory items. The shop which did the last services found that he had fully polished and buffed the inside of the oil pan as well. The seller states that the car is running well as-is.

The engine number, 7E10167-9 The original owner's manual is included, as is a small cache of spares and extras, which includes a head gasket and various seals and other small parts.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
