The first E Type Jaguar with disc brakes and independent suspension all round was announced in 1961 as an XK150 replacement. The first of the line was powered by the familiar 3791cc 6-cylinder XK engine and, thanks to the fine aerodynamics of the open or fixed head bodies offered - initially with faired-in headlamps, performance was sensational. The model was further improved in 1964 with a 4235cc engine.
This Staffordshire entered Jaguar was made in Coventry in 1969. An E Type Series 2 4.2 and originally lefthand drive, the roadster has been extensively rebuilt and converted to righthand drive by a recognised Jaguar Specialist. During this refurbishment, the car has been faithfully restored to its original pale blue exterior, beige interior and black hood. ú2,500 has been spent in the last 6 months alone on the brakes, trim, exterior panels and electrics. Body and paintwork are said to be in very good condition and the trim all new. The 4.2-litre 6-cylinder engine is reportedly in very good order and the 4-speed manual transmission serviceable.
The owner has obtained a Heritage certificate from the Daimler Jaguar Heritage Trust confirming manufacturing and specification details. All taxes were paid when this originally export car was repatriated, the car having been issued with a UK V5 by the DVLC. It is absolutely ready and waiting to be appreciated, driven and enjoyed.
