Ebay item 8/9/11
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Great-1969-E-Type-Jag-Roadster-British-Racing-Green-/220 ...
Current bid $12,100 reserve not met, 15 bids 3 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
This car is a great looker and a great driver. And because the entire drive train is in great shape it would also be an attractive candidate for restoration for show-rooms. All equipment is either original or OEM. (Exception: I installed a CD changer.) It is the classic 6-cylinder 4.2 L Series 2 with twin Stromberg Zenith carburetors and, of course, manual 4-speed gearbox. Every mechanic who has ever checked out this car has been impressed by the engine compression and it has been a delight to drive all the years that I have owned it.

It has been garaged all of the time that I have owned it (over 28 years) and I believe it had been religiously garaged by its previous (two) owners.

The convertible top is 3 years old and looks new. I replaced the gas tank 5 years ago, had the bumpers re-chromed a year ago and had the car re-upholstered (tan leather) over 10 years ago. The upholstery shows wear and nicks.

I had the car repainted (it has always been, and remains, British Racing Green) a year ago. The paint used was the correct DuPont product/color and the paint job looks very good from a couple of steps away but close examination in concealed locations by a trained eye will see that the work is not the level of quality that one would want on such a great classic; examination of the door closures reveals paint overlap. The painters also failed to put the new seal kit in place (I purchased and provided it to them for this purpose) and they actually left several of the old seals out during remounting as well. The new seals will, of course, be given to the new owner. These painters were also impatient in aligning the remounted doors, radio antenna, trunk and bonnet after painting, and one window rolling mechanism now should be reassembled. There are the usual heat-induced paint imperfections on the hood vents.

I put four new tires on the car less than a year ago, the correct Vredestein Sprint Classics, and they have fewer than 100 miles on them.

The gauges have always worked properly although recently some intermittent misbehavior has had me tracking a loose wiring connection behind the dash.

There is rust through the exhaust and if I were to keep the car I would address that next.

FEATURES:
I have the knock-off mallet for the wire wheels as well as useful manuals for the car and these will be included for the new owner.

HISTORY:
I bought the car in New Jersey in 1982. That owner told me he was the 2nd owner and I have had no reason to doubt him.

I actually love this car and am only selling it now because I have some tough bills to pay. Such is life.

The hand brake caliber has twice required a whack to disengage during the past six months. I'd rebuild and re-tension it if I were to keep it.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
